چکیده

Abstract Background Staphylococcus aureus is a leading cause of antibiotic-resistant bacterial infections and can infect nearly every organ the human body. One common manifestation S. disease invasive bone infection, or osteomyelitis. Osteomyelitis one most difficult to treat infections, often necessitating prolonged antibiotic treatment surgical interventions. Hyperglycemia, elevated blood glucose concentration, increases risk for developing We hypothesized that adapts specifically altered host environment during hyperglycemic osteomyelitis, thereby contributing increased infection severity. Methods To model we treated mice with streptozotocin prior in post-traumatic osteomyelitis model. analyzed burdens homogenized tissues parameters microcomputed tomography. identify changes spatial molecular architecture infected, femurs, utilized imaging mass spectrometry. Finally, obtain comprehensive understanding metabolic virulence genes essential staphylococcal growth vivo mice, performed transposon sequencing experiment. Results discovered sustained within infected femurs greater dissemination other organs. also found experienced rates destruction loss trabecular volume, suggesting hyperglycemia exacerbates infection-associated loss. identified 71 as uniquely compared euglycemic infection. Conclusion Hyperglycemia results Multiple involved metabolism roles fitness acidic environments were comorbid By identifying survival have potential inform targeted therapeutic development exacerbated patients hyperglycemia. the effect of e-64 on the developmental competence of sheep cocs during in vitro maturation

in the present study, the effect of e-64 at different concentrations (0.5, 1, 5 and 10 µm) added to (1) the ivm medium on oocyte nuclear maturation and developmental competence of ovine oocytes, and (2) to the ivc medium on embryonic development of ovine embryos were investigated.

Molecular pathogenesis of staphylcoccal osteomyelitis.

Staphylococcus aureus is the most prominent musculoskeletal pathogen of man and animals. The persistent emergence of antibiotic-resistant strains has prompted renewed efforts to develop alternative protocols for the treatment and prevention of staphylococcal disease. These efforts have included attempts to develop an effective staphylococcal vaccine. Among the potential vaccine candidates are a...

Pathophysiology and Pathogenesis of Osteomyelitis

The term osteomyelitis encompasses a broad group of infectious diseases characterized by infection of the bone and/or bone marrow. The pathogenesis of these diseases can follow acute, subacute or chronic courses and involves a range of contributory host and pathogen factors. A commonly used aetiological classification distinguishes between three types of osteomyelitis: acute or chronic haematog...

Polarizability is a key molecular property controlling induction and dispersion forces in molecules, and atomic polarizabilities in molecules are widely used elements both in qualitative schemes for understanding molecular interactions and in quantitative methods for modeling them. Unfortunately, experimental probes of local polarizability are not readily available. Here we predict the polariza...
